Research has shown that people who cook most of their meals at home consume fewer calories, less fat and less sugar than those who cook less or not all, even if they are not trying to lose weight. Many foods prepared outside the home at restaurants or in a factory are high in fat, salt and sugar. When individuals or families cook their meals at home, they control what ingredients and how much they use.
