2019 Great American Smokeout

Thursday, November 21 is the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout.  This annual observance encourages tobacco and e-cigarette users to quit for a day – in hopes of quitting for life.

Tools to Help You Quit

Leaving nicotine addiction behind is hard – the best way to ensure success is to have a coach and a plan. A coach can come in many forms – asking your physician for help can be a great first step. Many insurance plans provide coverage for a variety of medications and resources. The American Cancer Society has a lot of great resources and tools to help you quit smoking.

Another great resource that should be included in a quit plan is the Kansas Tobacco Quitline. The Kansas Tobacco Quitline provides FREE one-on-one coaching for Kansans ready to quit using any form of tobacco. It is designed to help the tobacco user take control of his/her attempt to quit. The Quitline is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week online and by phone, text or mobile application. Trained Quit Coaches provide participants support to create an individual plan to quit tobacco and fight cravings.
