You’re Invited to our Nutrition Seminar: Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) Diet Way of Eating on October 4th from Noon to 1p at the Central Resource Library in Room 20.

High blood pressure, also called hypertension, is a condition that affects nearly 1 in 3 Americans. Hypertension can increase your risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney failure because of the subsequent damage to your body’s blood vessels.

One way to help with high blood pressure is to limit your sodium intake and incorporate the DASH diet.

The DASH diet includes eating whole grains, low-fat or fat-free dairy products, fish, legumes, nuts, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. There is an emphasis on limiting foods full of saturated fats, sugar-sweetened beverages, fatty foods full of saturated fats, sugar-sweetened beverages, fatty meats, and processed foods. It also encourages limiting your daily sodium intake to 2,300mg per day.

This string of suggestions can be overwhelming, but this seminar is the perfect place to learn how to make DASH easier to incorporate into your own life.

Did we mention that there will also be a recipe demonstration?

We look forward to seeing you there!
