Family-Friendly Workplace Environments

As a business leader, you know that recognizing your employees as your greatest competitive advantage is the first step to setting them—and yourself—up for success. One of the best ways to ensure that employees stay healthy, happy and productive is to create a family-friendly workplace environment.

We know that family-friendly workplace policies are becoming increasingly important to employees. Research overwhelmingly indicates that employers care about the health and satisfaction of their workforce, but sometimes do not know how to best meet their shifting needs. The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment is working on a project designed to help employers understand how family-friendly workplace policies improve employee’s productivity and overall wellness. These types of family-friendly policies benefit employers in a number of ways, including:

  • Helping build the foundation for the development of reasoning, problem solving, and planning skills for both current and future employees.
  • Creating a well prepared and more productive workforce.
  • Lowering absenteeism and employer turnover.
  • Reducing employer healthcare costs by investing in comprehensive family wellness.
